“A bad carpenter blames his tools”
No truer saying could be said of golf and golfers. If you are looking to improve your game, come visit Chris Jahnig who is Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Medical 2 certified.
Who Would Benefit From a TPI Assessment?
Golfers of all skill levels looking to improve their game!
Perhaps you have lost a few yards over the last couple years, or you are not hitting as far as you think you should!
Do you feel like you have too much movement in your swing or maybe not enough?
Are you looking to make your passion a little healthier by walking but there are some aches and pains that are limiting you from doing so?
If you have existing injuries that limit/impact your golf game? Things like: low back pain, shoulder pain, knees or hips that ache.
What is the Titleist Performance Institute?
The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading educational organization and research facility dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Since 2003, TPI has analyzed thousands of swings from the PGA professional to the weekend warrior. That data has been analyzed for players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels and using that data, TPI discovered:
A. Important biomechanical elements (i.e how the body moves) of the human body that lead to an optimal swing
B. What limitations in the above biomechanics can lead to injury and which potential injuries.
As such, TPI and those TPI certified do not believe that there is only one way to swing a club! There are an infinite number of ways and there is a way that would best fit you and your body.
Some players you may know that have worked with TPI professionals:
Tiger woods, Adam Scott, Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm… The list goes on!
18 of the last 20 majors in the PGA have been won by players who have worked with TPI certified personnel!
25 of the top 30 PGA payers are trained by TPI certified professionals, as well.
If TPI is good enough for those guys, it can be good enough for you!
And What is a TPI Assessment?
A TPI assessment by our certified physiotherapist will consist of 4 main elements:
1. Subjective History: detailed medical history, establishing state of current golf game (i.e. misses, strengths), and golf goals
2. Physical Screen: using the TPI designed application, 16 movement screens, identified to have the move influence on the golf swing, will be undertaken to establish strengths and areas of improvement for your body.
3. Video Analysis: Our physiotherapist will film swings from down-the-line and face-on and then analyze those with you in-house to establish if you have any of the 12 major swing flaws. The physiotherapist will discuss with you whether those swing flaws are a function of the physical limitations identified in your Physical Screen or if those are a function of technique. If they are a function of physical limitations, good news, the physiotherapist can work with you to have those resolved through exercise and treatment. If they are a function of technique, good news, the physiotherapist will develop a written description of what has been found that can be communicated with your swing coach.
4. Treatment: Based on the results from the Physical Screen, our physiotherapist will develop a personalized, comprehensive treatment program to aid you in improving those limitations found. The treatment plan will be tailored to create an opportunity to improve your golf game and you may experience some additional benefits in your day-to-day life!
